End of Year & Holiday Message

Writer: SJARogersArena OperationsSJARogersArena Operations

Dearest 1307 Volunteers,

Your leadership team at Division 1307 wishes to wish you the warmest and merriest Christmas, and happiest of new years.

We look forward to seeing all of you, and volunteering by your side in 2025.

We also wanted to share some news with you in case you missed it.

Our very own Admin Officer Tannis and her husband have recently announced the birth of one of our future volunteers. This good news was followed by a bit of commotion when Tannis developed a serious infection, and spent a few days intubated in the ICU unit, having multiple surgeries. Tannis is now well on the road to recovery and has since been released from hospital. Tannis, her husband and the next generation volunteer are doing very well and spent their first holiday as a family.

You will see some new ranks amongst our officers as the BC and Yukon council has chosen to realign with the rest of Canada, and many other paramilitary services.

I will no longer be wearing a crown and the rank of Major, and will now be wearing the rank of Captain with 3 stars on my shoulder. The core officers now have a little less weight on their shoulders as well as they now wear 2 stars and are ranked as Lieutenants. A formerly barely-used rank of 2nd Lieutenants with 1 star will now be in use by many officers as positions are created to support the division. The corporal and sergeant ranks remain unchanged.

All of the updates can be seen on the orientation, and on our website (www.raodivision1307.ca) along with much more news in the news section which we encourage you to check out.

We will be starting to work on 2024 awards early in the new year, please be patient as we ensure no one gets missed. All hours have been or will be entered for the correct year, so not to worry. Please keep up wth signing up for all the awesome events, and remember to do your online training as that is still mandatory, and will be used more and more as events get filled up (since we are now capped with maximum amounts of volunteers per events).

I also want to take the time to thank all of you for your patience as we encountered some recent bumps in the road with certain staff at members at Rogers Arena. We are well on the way to correcting the wrongs and mending bridges. Thank you for allowing us to fix the issues and bearing with us during that time. There are still a few outstanding issues which we will do our best to rectify in the new year.

I want to thank you once more for everything that you do in our wonderful division. I hope that each member feels valued and that you are not shy to reach out if anything is needed. I am grateful to have the opportunity to lead and support all of our wonderful volunteers in this excellent division that we are part of, Team 1307! This family would not be the same without each and every volunteer that makes up this team. May 2025 bless you with all that you wish for, as 2024 did for me.

Sincerely,

Philippe Lurol, MStJ,
