Important and Urgent Updates

Updated: Nov 9

Dear Divisions 1307/Rogers Arena member,

Please be advised that there are significant changes affecting our membership, and all who volunteer at the arena.

1) Hockey games are no longer one big event with multiple shifts. They are now individual events. This means that each event will be easier to see on the calendar, and will be closed on completion. Don't worry, all your hours will have been imported into the new events, and the old event is being archived and hours will be removed from it. Temporarily, you may see hours duplicated, but rest assured this will be corrected shortly.

a) With all events now being individual, please note that you will no longer need to look for hockey games under past events, as they will now be shown chronically amongst other events. This also means that we will need to share all events with other divisions one by one, so please step up, sign up and let’s cover those events with minimal help from other divisions. Please sign up early and often, the arena has requested that we must sign up for events at least 48 hours before the events.

b) We are also working on separating Lacrosse events very soon.

2) New process on arrival at the arena: When arriving at the arena, we must now all sign in. Each volunteer must text the Health and safety manager number (found in recent texts or via contacts) This needs to be done via THE ROGERS CELL PHONE ONLY.  Please DO NOT use your own cell phones. Each volunteer must sign in with their name and arrival time. This is unfortunately mandatory, and I will work with the arena to find a better way to sign in as soon as I can.

3) Website: The website has been greatly improved and continues to be updated, please check it out! www.raodivision1307.ca . This is a one stop shop for all your volunteer needs.

4) 2023 awards: All volunteer hour awards for 2023 have been sent by email (and will likely be given out at the arena) to all volunteers who have earned them. Congratulations to those volunteers! All national awards have been requested and will be distributed as soon as they are received. We will begin with the 2024 awards early in the new year. Please check the “news" section of our website periodically for updates and memos, and a video congratulating and deserving award recipients.

Thank you all for being part of our wonderful division, and a special thank you for your patience with these new changes.

Id also like to give a shout out to the Community Services Staff who took down a lot of the heavy lifting with making it easier for use to volunteer.

Sincerely,
